“Kaplanlar International Cartoon Contest” has been Concluded
The winners of Kaplanlar International Cartoon Contest, organized to draw attention to “Environment and Climate Change”, have been announced. Ba Biling’s cartoon from China has been awarded the grand prize in the contest including 1400 works from 31 countries.
Kaplanlar Refrigeration, among the one of the strongest in the refrigeration sector, has organized the International Cartoon Contest in cooperation with Anatolian Cartoonists Association in the scope of its 40th anniversary celebrations. With more than 1,400 works, 506 cartoonist from 31 countries participated in the competition themed “Environment and Climate Change”.
In order to draw attention to the social responsibility work towards cartoon art and the environment, Kaplanlar International Cartoon Contest, the announcement of which were made in October and graded with three stars by International Cartoon Federation (FECO), also attracted a great interest by cartoon artists.
Cartoons ranking the highest in the competition have been selected from as a result of intentive evaluations by the jury, whose members are composed of the president of Anatolian Cartoonists Association Ahmet Aykanat, Cartoon Artists Halit Kurtulmuş, Kürşat Zaman, Mehmet Kahraman and Kaplanlar Soğutma Chairman Ertuğrul Kaplan, Executive Committee Member and Production Manager Nazlı Kaplan, R&D and Engineering Manager Mesut Aksoy.
“WE HAVE BROUGHT TOGETHER ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND ART”
Nazli Kaplan, Executive Board Member and Production Manager stated that they organized an international competition for the first time this year with the aim of spread the responsibility of being more sensitive to the environment with the help of cartoon art. Kaplan said that the obligation to transfer natural resources to future generations is possible only with environmentally conscious institutions and customers. “It is a great honour for us to meet in a universal contest which includes caricaturists and their works from all over the world in the direction of our global vision. We were forced to choose between cartoons, each of them contains a very specific messages. I also congratulate all of our artists involved in the contest by virtue of their sensitivity.”
THE WINNER IS FROM CHINA
In the first week of January, as a result of the evaluations made by the selection board within the scope of the contest specification, the ranking cartoons among the 91 works were announced. Ba Biling’s cartoon from China has been awarded the grand prize whereas Murat sarı from Turkey has been deemed worthy of the second prize. Musa Gümüş, from Turkey again, has won the third prize. Jovco Savov from Bulgaria, Ali Reza Moghaddam from Iran and Tomasz Wolosyzyn from Germany were the artists who were granted to receive honorable mention.
In addition, Contemporary Life Support Association (ÇYDD) Special Award which is among the competition awards, has gone to Darusi Mehrdelan from Iran and AKAD Special Award were given to Muammer Kotbas from Ankara.
